Noob question, not to be off topic but, what is the difference between getting power under the curve then over it?

Thanks sorry guys lol.. ( Still new at this tuning stuff and trying to understand it)

power under the curve means (IMHO) power that is usable on the street..usualy less lagg and better RESPONSE...
from a mathematical point of view..it has a bigger area under the curve thus better power distribution...this set up is seeked in road racing applications as well as auto-x and drift.

however...there is nothing called power over the curve...unless you mean peak power..its seeked by people who wanna be dyno queens...mazimum horses with a small area under the curve...but a high peak..

however..peak power xan also be refered to the maximum power the car puts out be it laggy or not...

i hope this explains a lil..
maybe someone else could chime in..

I am considering runing GSC 280/280 cams with ferria dual valve springs and titanium retaners. I am just worried about relability and gas milage because my car is a driven everyday.

the S1's i beleive are the revised version of the 280/280 set up...
with the S1's the car drives like stock but with alot MORE power.

Yes in one way and no in another...it depends what you want,,
do you wanna:
accelerate and feel the instanst "linear" pull
or
press the accelerator then wait, wait, wait and boom get the feeling of being rear ended..?

big turbo/small engine tends to give a laggy non linear power curve but usually those cars are fast on the drag strip coz they are never out of the boost area.

if you wanna look at it in another way:
big area under the curve=QUICK
peak power=FAST

lol

i already love my cams..it transformed the car into a totall different beast..
my tuner is quite good...he acheived a consistant 380+ BHP on IXs with bolt ons...

i cant wait to see what i put out.

less than 12 hours left to get tuned!!

post up numbers man. My car with S1 and 20G-LT turbo feel faster then what my graph shows. If i had 94 i'll break in the 400whp =(, god i hate california gas. GOODLUCK bro and give us the detial at the dyno.

you gonna swap the turbo next? if I cant find anything better to spent money on, I might try 20glt this spring... although the voices in my head keep telling me that the smart thing would be to save for the next car - evo IX

Boss..as much as i am excited about the evo X and waiting for it to come out in the FUTURE...i am enjoying every minute of my evo ix NOW...
you dont understand what cars i encounter on the streets of dubai...let me give you a lil picture...everyother car on the street is a ferrari/lambo/porsche on a street that is "traffic light to traffic light" kinda set up...thats where the evo shines.

i am really considering a bigger turbo...looking at a 50 trim either AMS or Shearer...with a stronger clutch...thats my next project.
