I'd rather drive a car with 10 less hp than a car that was so irratitatingly loud that it gave you a headache after driving it. Power is not everything.

its all in the size of the muffler
the probably with evos is that most after marker exhaust use small mufflers. most use mufflers that are 6 or 7 inches round with a 14 inch body.

i got that one one my 500whp integra with no cat and no resenators full 3 inch piping and you cant even hear the exhaust at all

So when you go emissions testing you just swap back to the stock cat? Replacing the stock and functioning catalytic converter will result in a huge fine. If for some reason the stock cat is not working anymore the best you can do is to replace it with a high-flow-cat with a metallic core that's 3 inches all the way through.

that is a nice exhaust, but i am just curious how the whp dept would rack up with like a buschur or greddy ti.

thanks for the comment guys- so from what is said on this thread i can assume that if there was an exhaust that was just as quiet as stock at wot even, and had absolutely no loss in power compared to buschur or greddy ti but 10-15lbs heavier it would sell succesfully here in the US. cool, lets see if i can pull some strings and at least get one to test out.

On the topic of quiet exhausts, does anyone know if whether the Greddy sp2 or RSR ExMag is quieter?

the big picture is that we have a huge restriction already in the exhaust stream, the turbo!
the truth of it all is that the best performance with the boost levels our cars run, will be obtained with straight through exhaust and the biggest diameter pipe you can fit, that wont allow the exhaust gas to cool too much in the exhaust system.
with that said, for every day driving and a reliable high horsepower tune, a quieter resonated exhaust will probably run around the same horsepower levels, but the tune will maybe need a little more tweaking to get it there.
If you really want the best of both worlds, look at what the motorcycle world is doing. They are using valves to cut sounds waves but allow the max exhaust flow needed at a certain load/rpm. This system would be great on turbo cars if it were possible to make it reliable.
my last stand is that the blanket statement IS true when dealing with turbo vehicles, but man how cops already love us so much already, d@mn hondas!!

I have an RMR DP, Mil spec 100 cell cat, RMR catback. Its deeper tone on idle, and just slightly louder. WOT its just mean, deep tone. I think this is a decent compromise between noise and power as its not obnoxiously loud at all. I dont see alot of guys running this exhaust but I love it.
