no oil cooler

hey guys i posted this in the newb forum a while back. i had the evo towed by a moron and he broke my oil cooler. i found this out right after i installed my new tc. anyway i have the line recurrculating back into the filter. basically just bypassed the oil cooler. im tight on cash and i have been driving it some without the oil cooler. am i going to do any serious damage as long as i take it easy, or is the oil cooler more for engine life than anything else?

drive it easy and don't boost, IMO the reason for the oil cooler on the evo is because the turbo heats it up

It won't be a problem. The oil cooler comes into play more on the road course where you are under sustained load. A pull or two here and there won't hurt anything, especially during the cooler winter months. I wouldn't beat on the car too hard during a heat wave without the oil cooler, but you aren't really at risk of overheating the oil with a few moments of WOT.
