ticking after clutch install!!! help

i just installed a new clutch but i used the old pressure plate(stage 1 exedy plate) and resurfaced the stock flywheel...both were still really good and thats why i decided to just get a new disc(four puck sprung) and a new tob...well during the removal of the transmission i knocked off the wedge collar on the pressure plate...from my research this peice can be knocked off and all it needs is to be popped back into place...i popped the wedge collar into place and did not knock off it off during installation but i did notice that the tob was not engaging with the wedge collar but after a couple of tries(clicking the fork to the b direction) it would engage...i did notice that during the engagement process it would also pop back out of engagement too!!!...so before i completed the install(putting back shift cables/intake/chargepipes) i made sure that the tob was engaged!!!...to make a long story short every thing went well(tcase bolted up and axles popped back and fluids topped off)...i started the car and i hear a loud ticking sound coming from the trans... ...i dont know what it is and i know the only way to find out is to pop the trans off again but has anybody had this noise when the tob was not fully engaged!!...im sure its the tob because there is no way you can mess up a trans without driving it or physically abusing it!!!...help please
