No boost Leak, but still low boost?

I did a boost leak test and there was no boost leak present. We out everything back together and went on another test run to see if we could figure anything out.

By 3,000 RPM - we noticed boost peaked at 1.3 BAR (normal)
By 4,000 RPM - Boost creaped down to a 1.1 BAR (seemed normal considering EVERYTHING is stock.. boost tends to taper to there)

Getting closer and closer to 7,000RPM - boost creeps down to .8 BAR.

It seems like it is tapering down wayyy tooo much.

If i get a retune done from Al, will that be able to take care of the intense tapering thats going on? or is there some issues im having with the wastegate ax-u-ator (sp?)

EDIT: Im planing on modifying the car in the future, after modifying and getting a tune, will the tune help the car from tapering really bad?\\

Keep in mind, the whole car is stock

If it's stock why would you need a tune? I think you have to have everything working properly before you give him your car for a tune. All boost leaks must be gone....I understand that you don't have a boost leak, but basicly everything has to be working properly

Sounds like it could be the common intake snorkel pin removal. Pop your hood, look at the intake box, and the snorkel coming off of it, if you dont have the two pins holding it in place, thats your problem.

I have similar issues with my EVO 9 as well. I have not been able to do a boost leak test as of yet, but my car is noticably slower than when I had first had the car for the first 3500 miles. I now have 3800, and she feels slow. My car is also completely bone stock. I put in a boost guage a few days ago, and under WOT in 3rd gear, I will see a spike to about 20/21 psi, then a drop down to under 14 psi by redline. Is it supposed to be this low?!

check to see if the snorkle is pulling out of the intake box, it will still pull out even if the clips are not broken. i had a problem very similar on my stock ix mr and what i did was put 2 strips of duct tape on the inside of the snorkle and intake box and now its working perfectly normal. i hope this helps.

+1 on experiencing the same issue at the track last weekend. I did however notice that the vacuum line I was tapped into for my boost gauge had popped off. I put a good ziptie on it to keep it from coming off again, and have not experienced the issue again.

So how much boost are you suppose to be seeing at redline?

i have tuned a 9mr that also had bad taper like that. i do beleive it is normal. one thing to note, if the car is cold (i.e. not warmed up), the boost will be limited. the ECU protects itself by limiting boost while warming up. however, this will generally effect the spike as well, not just the taper.

it is pretty easy to fix by tuning it and removing the restrictor pill near the wastegate regulator. here is a before and after street dyno of evo 9 with nothing but downpipe and a catback (Still had stock cat). stock tune, and my tune with the JDM mivec and increased boost, and more timing:

and i have the plots of the boost before and after, but they are on my computer at home. i can post them up later.

i have seen quite a few of these cars like this from the factory... spike to 1.3 and taper to 1 bar by redline... I have yet to see a ix make the claimed boost really.

nothing wrong.... i just think some make slightly more boost than others..

my evo 8 mr, boost was ALL OVER the place on the stock solenoid... hit 1.5 drop to .9 then jump to 1.2 back down, found nothing wrong, this was 500 miles after new on the dyno.
