gotta love 5th
2005 Evo VIII GSR
8k miles
Only mods are catback and a panel filter.
1-4th perfect shifts. 5th gear grinds if I shift quickly (not fast shifting). If I take it out of 5th and try to put it right back in it grinds HARD! I have spent the night reading various threads and I see there is a TSB for the 03-04's but supposedly fixed it for the '05's.
So I tried the following today:
Remove the restrictor (wasn't one)
Bleed the clutch
Adjust the the clutch pedal out 1 & 1/2 turns.
Zero difference. I guess I have a bad 5th syncro. From what I know 5th and reverse share a syncro. I can shift into reverse with NO problem.
We just had the car arrive here in the UK. I am going to call a local Mitsu dealer and see if they can help me. I called Mitsu just before we bought the car to see if I would have any problems with warranty coverage. They didn't seem to think there would be a problem. Guess I'll find out in a day or two.
And just for those that are gonna ask. The car has never been raced or abused ever. Heck, its never even been launched. This is my daily driver and is adult owned. Because of that, its really got me questioning Mitsu's build quality.

Spoke to my local Mitsu dealer today. I have the car booked in for March 5th. They said I "shouldn't" have any trouble getting the car repaired under warranty!
They even went so far as to say they may even get me a new clutch as well. I'll update when I get more info.
