Wastegate

I have a 03 Evo 8. Im thinking maybe in the future get more upgrades but for now this. What is the most psi the car would withstand on stock turbo/fuel and everything. Im looking to upgrade the wastegate acuator on my car. Its all stock. Is it hard to change the wastegate and to adjust it? Also which wastegate would you reccommend.

Wow, there is another new thread just created on here like 10 minutes ago about the very same thing. Please search to limit repetitive threads like this. A lot of the info you are looking for can be found! (hopefully I don't loose any points for this ;-) )

I wound not touch the wastegate on your car if it is not broken. Just get your self a good boost controller, like a Hallman or Forge MBC to control your boost. Then you can set it to about 19-20psi on a stock motor and be ok.

Hmmm, you found NOTHING on here to help you decide on a new DV. Good luck with that.

It can be done , i dont think anyone is just bashing you. For example stock wastegate actuators tend to not hold high boost very well and tend to taper off. Changing the wastegate may help hold the boost constant at xx psi. But doing so might not really be cost effective for the gains especially if you wont be running more than stock boost or 20-21 psi. Getting something like a flash or exhaust ( if you dont have one or either) might be more of a starting point than the wastegate. Also depending on what your ultimate goal is. You will always be able to re use the wastegate so good luck.

And how to do it. I think you'll have to shut the actuator or just remove it and then have the aftermarket wastegate worked in. Any shop in your local area should be able to do it.

These are just my opinions. Good luck.
