removing radiator hose

Last time I changed the top radiator hose a lot of fluids leaked out. Is there a way to do it so that nothing leaks out....maybe jack the front or rear of the car up to prevent it from leaking?

Drain the top half of the system. The drain plug is very easy to get to with a 10mm.
