Spark Plugs

I have a 03 Evo with 50,000 miles and the following mods: RMR intake system(with lower and upper pipes) Perrin Turboback Exhaust, Walbro 255 lph, Turbo XS MBC and Blow Off Valve, HKS 272 camshafts, Jester flash, Apexi turbo timer, SAFC-II, and a NX intercooler sprayer. I also have brand new a AEM EMS and AEM cam gears but I am not sure if the gears will do any big gains for me so I have not got them installed. But I am wondering if I should change my spark plugs if so to what? thanks

Not a recommended combo of mods there, but you didn't ask, so I won't delve into that.

As for plugs, you put in whatever plugs you need. If the ones you have are working, then don't change. When they stop working, then put in NGK BPR7ES gapped to .026. If those aren't good enough and cause sputtering when at peak boost, then try the next heat range up, which would be NGK BPR8ES.

You have the worst MBC for the Evo, so I would suggest getting one of the better ones on the market, such as the Forge UNOS or Hallman Pro. Likewise, the BOV is not good. I recommend a JDM MR DV, stock Evo IX DV, Forge Evo15 DV, or Forge RS DV. You have no need for the SAFC with the flash, and you certainly should not have an AEM EMS. That's 3 tuning devices you have...why? The cam gears CAN help if you know how to set the cam timing and have a preference for where you want your powerband, but installing them and leaving them at 0/0 will not change anything.

The RMR IC pipes weren't a good purchase, but they aren't going to hurt you now that they're on the car. Too late to prevent that expenditure.

Ok well I dont see anything wrong with the RMR intake system It has done good for me and the SAFC-II was actually on the car when I got it so I could not do anything about it. I understand that for Evos its pretty much pointless to have with a flash I know this. The EMS system I got for a really good deal and its brand new so yes I may not need it now but later on I might. If I dont ever need it then Ill sell and pull my money out of it plus more. And yes I know the blow off valve sucks It sounds good but its causing my car to run rich in between shifts and it bogs the car out because the air cant recirulate. If I could find one of the BOV you suggested I would surely buy it. If you could give me some suggestions on the cam gears that would be great. Im just trying to learn more like everyone else
