Is it normal to smell the clutch on Breakin?

I hit 6 stop lights in a row last night and I had a little bit of clutch smell... nothing major. I just want to make sure Im doing everything right. Clutch is an ACT HDSS and Prolight flywheel. Clutch has 200 miles on it.

um you have 200 miles on the clutch and are launching it 6 times in a row... hmmm not a good idea. if you like you t-case and t-mission. probably dont wana do that again. im trying to get my t-case warrentied right now and trust me its not fun. as i said im trying . break in your clutch a little more before you go launching up and down the road again

No I didnt Launch it at all. On the Last light I hit I gave it a little extra gas. I would never Launch 6 times in a row....thats just stupid! I have not launched the car and I really dont plan on it for a long time. I just have a mild smell....extremely faint....If I put my nose buy the hood vent I can smell it a little. No to mention I have the boost all the way down (13psi) Im being pretty easy on it. Just getting a faint smell after hitting a few stop lights in a row. My car was down for 5 months and I dont plan on trashing the clutch.

Also how does going to redline affect breakin? All of the TQ is down low. The Clutch holds TQ

Also the clutch has been through quite a few heat cycles. I got it installed Wend. I drive to work every day (7 miles) then it sits for 4 hours...then I drive to lunch...come back the car sits for 3 hours...you get the point. I would say its been heated and cooled 12~17 times already. Im being real easy on it till I get 300-400 miles.

When i broke in mine i did not get ito any boost(seriously) for the first 400 miles. Then, i gave a little bit maybe up to 8lbs. I drove it everyday with many stoplights but never had any smell. I took off at 1000rpms every time and wanted to make sure i did it right so it would last. Now i can't complain at all

you might be slipping it a little to much on take off. Even if your taking off nice and easy,6 times back to back you will smell it a little. Just drive it like you would if it was the stock clutch. After 5-600 miles you can start to let it rip.

Perectly normal, stop over analyzing everything. Why did you turn the boost all the way down?, cant you just drive the car easy? its not rocket science dont beat on it and you'll be very happy.....

Yea, the clutch was real high on the pedal...so I backed it down a little. I think the Master Cly. might have been preloaded....maybe. I got the clutch grabbing at about 3/4 to the top...feels better. I also have the "shorted" clutch rod (the one on the slave Cyl). So if it was preloaded at all, it was minimal.

Yea....I just get worried because I dont want my Evo to be down again. It was down for 5 months . I turned the boost down because I wanted to be easy as possible on it. If you push the gas down 1/2 when driving on the HWY it rips to 20 psi real quick. Anyhow the clutch smell is pretty much gone....I think it was more "In my head" than anything Thanks for the input
