I'm sure TRE does great work, but John Shepherd answers the phone, that is what sold me. I spoke to a legend.

Heh, I thought the same thing. We speak regularly now that he agreed to sponsor me, but I still have to compose myself so as not to sound like a stuttering 80s teenager who just met Hulk Hogan for the first time, hah.

Yeah, he does all the AMS cars, and if they can't break his 5spd on the road course, then I am pretty sure I can't. That's why I have one...

Do they actually make the transmission stronger for the rebuilds? From reading the ShepTrans site, it seems all day do is make it new again. They do offer some form of cryo treatment and that would improve strength. In my opinion you should also get that option. It does not cost that much more.

ShepTrans for the win.

you have to remember, everything internally has to be clearanced and shimmed properly to last long and shep's tolerances are much greater than 's.

The tighter tolerances will improve stength?

Can't wait to get my T-case sent off and finally get LSD installed. It would be nice to be able to do the tranny and the T-case at the same time. Kind of hard to decide which to do first. I don't have any problems with the T-case but I get locked out of reverse all of the time and 3rd grinds a smidge every so often.

it improves longevity, the evo trans is already very strong. it'd be like getting a built motor with the bearing and ring clearances too loose compared to built to exact specifications. one will take the power more than the other, one will have less blow-by, one will get a case of rod knock first. from what i've read up on cryotreating, i'm not sure it's worth the extra money. no one really seems to know how much stronger it makes metal. 2x's? 10x's? anyhow, shep's specifications>mitsu specifications. it's custom hand built vs. mass produced assembly line built, ya know?

Shep did the AMS cars and Al's car.

Buschur's black drag car uses the Bushwacker trans.

Buschur's car was using the Bushwacker trans when it ran 8.95.

One thing to keep in mind also is that the stock Evo trans is really strong as is.
