Because boosting creates a lot of heat therefore your turbo starts to glow. Also why they invented turbo timers

turbo gets preasurized by the exhuast the exhaust gets trapped in the hotside of the turbo for a sec till it passes the turbo to make it spool.. that buildup gets really hot.. makes the turbo glow

Question

yeh but is it ok for the turbo to get red like that its the exhaust part of the turbo not the intake part.... or the manifold alot of people are telling me that its not normal plus there is like a burning oil smell alittle as well when its glowing red ?????

Doesn’t really matter what the emitter is...stainless steel, cast iron, tungsten in your light bulb, the temps are about the same for a given color. Generally accepted colors/temps are:

C F Color

400 752 Red heat, visible in the dark
474 885 Red heat, visible in the twilight
525 975 Red heat, visible in the daylight
581 1077 Red heat, visible in the sunlight
700 1292 Dark red
800 1472 Dull cherry-red
900 1652 Cherry-red
1000 1832 Bright cherry-red
1100 2012 Orange-red

C= Centigrade
F= Farenheit

your exhaust gasses usally are around 800-1600F so yah i can happen..

the burnt oil smell could come from some blow-by or a small leak..should be easy to spot the leak.

the oil smell is most likely from the mustang trying to keep up
