Boost gauge doing weird things!!, what could it be??
Well over the last week or so I have caught the neddle in my boost gauge moving a bit quicker + bouncing a bit different than usual. Well today when I was going up a hill I noticed that the gauge would go up as per usual BUT when it got about half way 0.5 kg/cm it would stop and shoot back into vacum! I went down and up again and it did the same thing! THEN when I pulled up and stopped I noticed that the vacum would sit a just under 500 and then every 5 secs it would drop to 760 for a couple of secs then go up to just under 500. It just sits there doing that. I haven't noticed the car underboosting it just seems to be the gauge!
What could be causing this? I think it may be respondind a bit slower than it should now as well, i.e Im boosting and it will jump up to 0.9 well after I have started to boost.
Any ideas?
Cheers

What brand gauge is it? I had a greedy gauge that did a similar thing to yours it never held at any specific boost level. All of my connections were tight and I didn't have any leaks either. But, it was an electronic kind and maybe it was on it's dying legs. I would check for any boost leaks then, make sure all of your gauge connections are still good.
Good luck,

It's a Greddy boost gauge with peak hold and warning, It's never been a problem since I got it, always been consistent and very accurate. Mabey I have a leak somewhere?

The one that I had was a peak warning hold as well. It's been dead for awhile now until I get an replacement. Mine would just go up then, drop to vacuum everytime. They're suppose to hold at whatever the boost level is. I have a feeling that the electronics were going bad. Is yours new or old? Have you tried to get a hold of the place you got it from and can they give you some tech advice. The greedy guys here in the US aren't known for their customer service skills.
