how do i reset my dash light?
hey guys.. i was on my way home from the store today and i noticed that my service engine soon light was on.. i think it might be because i need an oil change. is there any other reasons that it could have come on? but im not really sure. my car has 59k miles on it and idk what it could be.. but does anyone know how to reset the dashboard lights so i could get it to go off when i get my oil changed?
Thanks

*Service Engine/ CEL / CHECK ENGINE* Not an oil change notification...
Like everyone said, its not the light for an oil change. If you have a tactrix cable you could read the code with the odbII scantech thingy. Its how I get rid of that annoying P0420 code I got after a year of driving on a tbe. Besides the only real reminder you get is mitsubishi sending you letter after letter telling you how much mileage you have and that you should change your oil and get serviced soon.
DONT clear the DTC(Diognostic Trouble Code) by reseting the ECU by means of disconnecting the battery!!!!!
You NEED to figure out what the DTC is. If it's for something serious, you need to know what it is.
If you don't have a Tactrix cable, go to autozone and have them scan the ECU and pull the DTC. Make sure you write down what the DTC is and report back to us. If you DO have a Tactrix cable, download Scantech from activematrix.com. It's a free OBDII scan tool that you use on your laptop. It connects to the OBDII port through the tactrix cable. Use it to pull your DTCs and report back.
