Question Shifter Problem ............. PLEASE HELP!!

Hey guys,

I just installed my new clutch and everything went pretty smooth. I have everything back in the car and I fired it up tonight to see if everything was working correctly,.......... it's not.

My shifter linkage is where I have a problem. If you take it out of gear, the shifter dosen't want to return to center. If you move it left or right and let go of it, it just stays there, feels kind of stiff. It also will not engage into any other gear but 1st (I think it's first).

I'm thinking that I must have done something wrong on hooking my cables back up, but I think they are correct. I really think that part of my problem is this little white plastic piece. I don't think that it is on how it should be and I can't figure the little bastard out. LOL Could someone please post a pic of how their's is on their car or a diagram or something would be great. I've attached a pic of mine so you can see how it is. This is wrong I'm pretty sure.

This is the only thing keeping me off of the road and it's killing me. I'm not positive this is what's causing my problem so please feel free to off other ideas to check. I appreciate anything you guys can help me with. Thanks in advance.

How I fixed it

Hey ABN,

Hope this gives you a better idea than my PM. Pictues always help me LOL

Like I said I just bent mine back into place and it works great. Lined up really well. But if your not comfortable with yours I wouldn't hesitate to order a new shift lever assembly. PM me if I can be of any more help to you.

Thanks a bunch sapper I will mess with it this weekend....I attempted to troubleshoot but I didn't know what i was looking for. From my observation, the white piece didn't look anything like yours at all. I believe it was in the right place but it didn't flush against the groove. Thanks again..ABN
