Angry Things that just SHOULDN'T Happen

So driving up to my dad's house when i notice that i smell a lot of exhaust gas in the interior, I turn the music down and i hear an exhaust leak. Knowing that sudden leaks just don't happen without a reason i pull the car into a gas station lot that is well lite and pop the hood. I was stumped until I started looking at the one place that i I was for sure would never give.....

to better explain the pictures i run a BR-fp3065 kit...

And a little close...

Yessir, you see right, the casting cracked on hotside tube going to the WG ...

The car is still drivable so i can get to my shop but it barelly boosts and sounds like a hoopty. FYI i have about 5-6k miles on the turbo kit.

More pics to come when the turbo is out of the car next week.

That's a pretty dumb statement.. Both kits are well proven and I'm sure this isn't a common problem.

Looks pretty standard for a weld to fail in the heat affected zone. Welding (especially tig and stainless) is an art and every now and then there will be a minute flaw. FP might stand behind the housing as they are very high quality (Now might be a nice time to consider the bigger 3575? wheel in the housing) I haven't had any problems with my 3065 kit yet.

Welds can fail. It does not happen very often, but it is in the realm of issues with modified cars.

I expect that Buschur Racing and/or Forced Performance will stand behind their parts 100% and take care of you with dispatch. Did you call them and ask first, or just post up this thread to stir the pot before you ask them to take care of you?

Make sure and let us know what they do to take care of your issue.

Since it was late last night all i did was message Jarrod, he knows the just of the incident but hasn't seen pics or anything yet. He said that they should be able to help. It is just a HUGE inconvenience to me right now being that i am leaving the country next week and i am a month away from my AEM tune. I just hope that my car is up in running in the next couple of weeks...

i had the same exact weld break on a customers car. and ater that, the weld on the pipe itsel broke. At first we thought it was the same weld that broke again. we welded it up each time and it never failed again

It seems the weld must not have gotten full penetration. Since that is a short piece and not a lot of weight rested there it should not have that problem if there was full penetration. Sucks though, now you gotta take it off and get it repaired.

That IS a good one.

To further go down the gutter:
Penetration, however slight, whether or not an emission results.

Good luck on the reweld.
