Does your EVO eat oil?

I read in the manual that a little oil consumption is normal. But on my WRX it never ate a drop!

I've changed my oil three times so far in 2000 miles, with Amsoil full syn 10/30 and OEM oil filter. But after driving it pretty hard the last couple days its down like maybe 1/5th a quart.

I just want to know if this is normal, and if it will stop? Or will this gradually get worse? I broke the engine in perfectly, stayed well below 5k for the first 600, after that it was fair game =)

Thats great... Im using 1 quart for each 2500 miles. And Im told that is very good. Dealer told me that 750 per quart is acceptable. I do drive hard and mostly in the city for what thats worth.

750 per quart is retarded...I don't care what the dealer says

I don't think 1/5th is anything to be alarmed at....but if it were me, I would not be running 10/30 synthetic in it..but thats another story

cladius, ive seen you reference the 10w60 before on some other posts. Will this take care of my little oil consumption....? My car just begs to be revved, I have to give her what she wants, right?

I wonder if Amsoil makes a 10w60 (checking right now..)

What's recommened from the factory for Evo 8s?

Have any of you tried the 5-30 from Redline? I use that in my M Roadster and recommend it very much as cold starts are very much improved and my car seems to rev smoother than with factory oil.

After almost 6000 miles my EVO has not burned a noticeable amount of oil... I used to have an Integra Type-R that drank it.... Anyone else have an EVO that is not an oil drinker?

I just checked my oil level for the first time with about 2000 miles on the car (yeah, I know I shouldn't wait so long ).

Anyway, don't know what the original level was on the dipstick when it was delivered, but it's just below the top notch on the dipstick now. Which I took as a good sign.

I did not know that Mobil one was poor oil, I would be interested to hear more about this... I did use Mobil one in the Type R... hmmm...

The owners manual for the EVO states that the oil used must be synthetic and meet the SAE levels, not that it has to be Mobil one. I used to run Redline in my turbo CRX and it seemed ok.. It was supposed to hold up better under the high temps thatn most other stuff.. Any thoughts on the best to use in the EVO? I have been using Mobil one 10W30 with the K&N filter.
