Hi

I am trying to find out what this sound could be I think it is my transmission
It is loudest when I decel with the car in 1st gear, and it does not matter if I have the clutch engaged or not.
I can hear the same noise but not as loud when accelerating in all gears but it‘s most apparent in 1st gear and least apparent in 5th gear.

Here is a short 4 meg file that is from the car coasting, engine off, clutch disengaged and transmission in 1st gear link

Then if someone wants to listen to a longer file here is one that is from acceleration and also going up to 2nd and 3rd gear link

its your tcase for sure, it gets worse bro, send it to shep or TRE asap b4 all 4 of your wheels lock up

 

I accelerate up to around 22mph and then turned the car of and let it coast

 

Sounds like a bad ring and pinion gearset to me. Time for a new transfer case.

 

But wouldnt I hear the t-case noise at all times ?
If I let the car coast not in gear then there is no noise and the noise gets alot weaker going up the gears from 1st to 5th.

i have a similar noise, only when accel in 1st or decel in third

 

definitely t-case.

My noise is that loud but only in 1st/3rd/5th while the car is engaged and between 1500 & 3000 rpms.
