I have a built Shep 5spd in my 05 MR. All 06s have ACD, so it's not necessary to say "06 with ACD." Also, all 05s have ACD, so asking if 03-05s will work with ACD is an invalid question. The ACD is not in the trans, so it doesn't matter anyway. My 5spd from Shep works great with my 05.

Turbodude, the Exedy Twin may be considered pricey and overkill for a nearly-stock Evo, but you said 475whp. That's a HUGE setup with double the stock power. That's exactly when you'd want to use an Exedy Twin. Getting an organic single disk with that much power would make no sense.

@ Warr

Err sry for using the wrong termonology. I tried to be discriptive as possible with my problem. Hopefully I will try adjusting the clutch rod again, then I will do a Exedy twin disc install. Blake.

The clutch choices are limited, sadly. The ACT line we use to carry, we were one of the first companies, if not the first to actually carry/sell the line. We had great luck with them for the first 10 years, pricing is great, product support and development was great.

The EVO clutch flat out sucks. It takes a beautiful trans and turns it to crap.

The DSM clutches took a huge turn for the worse too and that was the final straw. After complaining about them and trying to get the problem worked out and being treated like it was the first ACT we have installed we dropped the entire product line and will NOT sell the stuff anymore. Funny thing is I just heard this week they finally fessed up and found the problem we told them they had. Too late, F ACT, F the attitude we got from them.

Anyway, I don't like being treated like an idiot, that's what they did, ends up the problem was on their end just like we told them it was. They should be paying to replace a bunch of junk parts and labor and calling with an apology, that doesn't happen though.

Back on topic.

We are using the Centerforce DF in DSM's now, cars shift better than they have in the last 5 years using that clutch. It is a decent unit.

We have used them in a few EVO's too and that is the clutch we use if cost is an issue. Not sure of the power it will hold up to but so far we have no installed one that has worn out/failed. They shift nice too.

The best thing to do is cough up the $1500 or so that a Exedy Twin HD cerametalic, you can put in a clutch that will last longer and not destroy your trans or go with something else. The clutch labor at most places is high enough that you don't want to throw money away on clutch jobs.

Basically my experience with ACT, too. On my 3 DSMs, the only clutch I would use was the ACT 2100 or 2600, so I naturally got the ACT HDSS (2900) for my Evo, but I ended up hating it. My Exedy Twin is the epitome of excellence, though...
