electronic DOwnpipe
I spoke to Daryl from Ultimate Racing on saturday. He told me that the 2-way is not available just yet. he came straight out and said that it leaks a bit too much. in any case, he said that with the nature of the product, you HAVE to expect some bit of leakage...but it leaks far too much for them to be able to sell the product. sounds too much like an exhaust leak when it's closed.
they had their turbo integra there that was equipped with the 2-way and it did leak a bit. when it was open....WOW. mind you it was also equipped with a stutter box!
it sounded nuts...i wouldn't know what to do if someone pulled up to me at the lights with that!

I've seen a similar product on the show "Trucks!" on TNN. That setup was more like a sliding door than a butterfly valve that this one appears to have. The door type might be much better at contronlling the leak.
Also, turbos do not like backpressure. The less backpressure the better. That's the reason for a setup like this. And it wouldn't be too terribly loud, the turbo does a pretty good job of blocking the engine noise. It's not going to sound like a top-fuel dragster or any hot rod with open headers. A friend of mine has a WRX with the exhaust after the cat removed, and it sounds good IMHO.

This thing would be loud as a jet engine on the inside. I had a VW lowered and hit some kind of rock or large semi-fixed object while on the beltway in DC. Ripped the exhaust off from the downpipe back. (basically what this would be doing) I watched the semi truck behind me run over the cat + catback .5 seconds later.
Sound in the car was louder than I can express. Deafening
It was a 2.8NA engine so I'm not sure how loud it would sound on a turbocharged car.

I have already installed a similar product on my car. Yes it is EXTREMELY loud, but surprisingly enough it does not sound horrible. If you want to see some install pictures of the one I put on go to www.noweeds.net and click on installations.
The difference when the diverter is open is incredible! I also had looked at the ultimate downpipe and also a couple other options, but the one I finally decided to go with was the best in terms of quality. Some of you may say that it does not flow the smoothest, but I figured I could spare the one or less horsepower difference to get a much better product.

Looks like ATP downpipe insert. ATP's opens when 7psi is sensed. People have seen upwards of 25whp gain from it. That is what ATP claimes but im willing to bet that you wouldnt see that much of a gain if you already have a aftermarket exhaust.
