Advise needed - tubo back exhaust purchasing
06 IX <
Guys im looking to upgrade my exhaust. My goal is to have a 400+ evo someday,
I am looking into buying / putting a system together like most people do by buying a cat back exhaust and then a down pipe and a test pipe.... But I want to start with a cat back first then get the other two components together a few weeks after.
I am looking at Fujitsubo RM01A and Greedy SP2; I would consider the Greedy Titanium but I can not seem to find any pictures of them it installed on the car.
My next question is, once I pick my cat back, how do i go about selecting a down pipe and test pipe? if my cat back is 76mm or 80 mm do i just look for a manufacturer that sell a pipe of the adequate diameter?
Lastly, is there any drawbacks to assembling my own TBE systems as perhaps buying the AMS system or Buschur's which seem to offer magna flow mufflers?
the systems i have narrowed it down too are 3" so should that be enough for a 400hp car?

3" is what you want. Pick a catback you like in terms of looks, sound, perfomance, weight, ect.
All testpipes are pretty equal. There is resonated which quiets and deepens the tone, and non-resonated. There is no performance diff between the two, although some would like to dissagree.
Then get a 3" or 2.75" DP, for your goal, it doesnt really matter. Id go 3" tho, thats just me.
I liked the Helix DP/TP combo because of the price and fitment on the IX. Althoguh 6 weeks later, im still waiting on the DP from my local shop to come in.
Good Luck.

i could spend days answering this question because i did a lot of research before buying my exhausts. you can make it real easy and just buy the buschur bullet exhaust. i personally have the buschur bullet exhuast and love it and i also have the fujitsubo big canister exhaust for when i need to have a quiet exhaust. what makes the buschur so cool is that it adapts to everything. and also what else makes it so cool is if you ever decide to get a jdm rear bumper, you can buy just the back section of the exhaust off of buschur for a fraction of the cost so that it will fit the bumper nicely. and lastly the buschur exhuast is as good of an exhaust as any best 3" out there.
Just check my sig...greddy Ti exhaust, Helix V2 DP, and Helix TP....if you want the best go Titanium....hahaha...I also did about a month's worht of research and my system is what I decided on, I'm totally pleased since my goals are 500 whp Daily Driver....

i am in the process in purchasing a turbo xs tbe but i cant a web site that will say it fits the 05-06 because of the acd. those with this exhaust and have an 05 or an 06 can u tell me where did u get it from?
I narrowed it down some more
Fujitsubo MR01A + DP and TP
versus
AMS system... is there really any advantage on the AMS system?
could I run into any fitment issues with option 1?

Okay narrowed it down even more
AMS - 3" full TBE but loud?
Fujitsubo - 2.75" Down Pipe + Stock + Fujitsubo RM01A 3"
how much power difference would there between the AMS and the fujitsubo 2.75" Pipe if I were to get a test pipe with it from somewhere else?
AMS - one stop solution - I don't know how it sounds...
Fujitsubo - JDM all the way....
I need some good help here I am almost ready to buy.

I got an e-mail from eric (AMS)
"What I would recommend for an even more quiet ride is the resonated test pipe. I have that on my car and I love it."
does that make it more "restricted" (flow) and or is it significantly quieter that an regular test pipe?
- i have decided to go AMS by they way =)
