blown engine on e-85 600 miles......

Well I took my car to the track this weekend and ran 12.2@115 1.89 60ft and then 12.4 @ 109 1.72 60 ft and then 12.7 at 107 1.78 60 ft and then I noticed a vibration that wasnt there before and I know my driving was not changing any but the car was trapping less and less mph and it felt like the timing was getting pulled, Well it was due to the fact that the rod bearings spun or are about to spin but I got to thinking about the tune on the car and I was boosting 34 spike and holding 28-29 psi to redline with 0 knock on the e-85 so I drained the oil and it smelled like alcohol so I had a friend call our machiene shop and ask his opinion on this and he said synthetic oil and alcohol don't mix well and it could have broke down the oil but there was only 600 miles on the oil change. I was wondering what everyones opinion is on this.

BTW, Mods are 20g ported everything built head hks 280 cams and all the supporting crap.

Did you have the car tuned for E85? Or you just simply fill the car up with E85 as a substitution of race gas?

Sorry to hear, keep us posted.

Yes it was tuned to e-85 and the afr was 11.5 which is rich for e-85 and the balance shafts were still in the car? The turbo is a buschur 20g ported and clipped. The car pulled really hard at first and then the knock sensor took over.

I would think you would need bigger injectors as others are utilizing 880's and are almost maxing them out on the stock turbo. Since you have a 20G I would think you would need to be on 1000's. Question is what is you injector duty cycle currently, you may be running out of fuel.

I was real close but not running out of fuel, Afr went to 12.5 during thre 34 boost spike and 11.5 at 28-29 psi so I guess I ran a little out of fuel during the spike but I saw 0 knock on the logger?
