thats the thing, you can't see a boost leak.
you don't need to take it to the dealer but you do need to find out how your friend did the leak test.

it would be worth while to research and learn the correct way to perform this test yourself. I've found that people have different ideas on what a leak test really is.
having a turbo and doing a boost leak test should be almost as common as checking the oil.

Try shortening the WG actuator rod two turns. Also get a MBC and have it properly installed.

O.K first you need to quit smoking Parlaments and then start moding that IX cause it has TONS of potential...and then maybe a custum tune.

3. I know it won't solve my problems but I don't want that POS autometer gauge in my car for another second.

1. If you knew so much about turbo's you wouldn't be here asking us how to fix a boost problem. If you want to assume the turbo is ok, even after cutting a hole in your intake box...then go ahead. But it doesn't take long to check.
2. -1 what? If you don't know what unit your gauge measures in, it does you no good.
3. It's a POS because people make you believe since you didn't pay much for it, it must be junk. They tell you to go buy brands like Defi which are no better, but many times more expensive.
4. It sounds like you don't know how, nor have the tools to really fix this. So maybe you should just take it to the dealer.

Guys I found the problem....
I spent all day sunday trying to figure it out. My buddy suggested a leaking bov so we put on a spare aftermarket bov and it started to boost 17-18 psi again(my autometer gauge is off) I ordered another stock bov so untill that comes in I'll use the aftermarket one.

Glad you fingered it out.

I'm not trying to pester and say "i told you so"
but here is some advice that I think you should take.

Before going down obscure paths to solving problems, try the basics.

Don't argue with people who attempt to give you advice. They aren't looking for arguments. They are trying to help you. If you don't listen to their advice, there is no point in asking for it.

Cars are not as complicated as people think Basics will take you a long way. Don't let people's ignorance about the way things work force you to "take it to the dealership". They would be doing the same troubleshooting that educated people on this forum would advise you to do.

Again, glad you fingered it out.

Out of curiousity, how do you know your autometer gauge is off?
Did you run another gauge in there and compare it?

Why not just use an air compressor? Much easier

Yeah next time I'll try all the basic stuff first, it would have saved me some trouble. It just freaked me out a little cause it wasn't a sudden boost drop, I was loosing boost over the course of 12 months. I would have never thought it was the factory bov but I'm just glad it's fixed.

I don't know 100% for sure if my gauge is accurate but the gauge doesn't even sit anywhere close to zero. When the car is off it should sit at zero but my gauge sit at -1 psi vac. But it's all good because I have a defi gauge on the way and I was assured by the vender it will out perform the autometer.

Thanks everyone for the help!

Edit: About the boost gauge. My friend installed his Stewart Warner gauge to compare and I was boosting 19-20 psi tappering down to 17 psi. For refrence my autometer shows 17-18 psi tappering to 15 psi.

throwing $$ at a problem isn't the best way to fix it. Some many on these forums do that at it pisses me off. i'm not talking about you specifiaclly, just in general.

Glad you got it worked out.

Don't be so sure your autometer boost gauge is off just because its not @ 0. The one in my vette sits @ -10psi when the car is shut off, but it still reads 100% accurate when the car is running when compared to my 3bar map sensor.
