You going to run a 3-3.5in dp with that thing? With a turbo that big you would want to run a 4in dp.

nothing against the "ams" piece it is probably the best intake out there for the money. but a buddy of ours bought one and installed it on his evo VIII and in a matter of a month or so of driving the fuel rail mounts cracked and broke completely off! this resulted in fuel spaying all over his engine bay and could have resulted in a serious matter. we were able to repair the manifold with new reinforcments(sp) and now it's holding like a champ. just after that whole experience i figured i get something that was cast instead of sheet metal.

What did AMS say abt their VSR intake failing in such a manner. Sounds like your buddy's car could have been burnt down

Why dont you just port your stock intake manifold. And get a stock 65mm bored tb. Buschur is doing it and trapping 140+

I posted this question on one of buschur's threads but ill ask again. Does anyone know how much an aftermarket intake manifold (HKS, Full-Race, AMS) with a 65mm throttle body make over a ported intake manifold (Buschur, PPI) with 65mm throttle body? Is the aftermarket intake manifold worth it? And lastly in everyones opinion who makes the best intake manifold.

How much? There hasn't been a dyno comparison between the two. I look at a build in a logical sense.

Establish a goal then plan the build. I'm sure there is more power but when you see Buschur cars trapping over 145mph on a stock ported unit with 65mm TB you have to ask yourself am I trying to go faster than that?

Same goes for turbo and spool up requirements.
