Need some help. What is this?

guys i had a boost gauge installed and they took the vac hose from this sensor to the boost gauge. Well i thought i might need this sensor hooked up to vac. So i teed it agin from the boost gauge. The problem is that when i tee it back my boost gauge reads 5psi lower. Does anybody know what this sensor is and do i need it hooked up or can i just cap it. Sorry for the retarded spelling and gramar i am in a hurry. thanks.

well it may have something to do with fuel.so take the tee out, and replace the hose. move ur boost line to the top of your diverter valve (BOV)
