I bought my evo used and it had some parts on it already. Well I THOUGHT it was a stock tune, but somebody put a crappy flash on it. now I'm wondering if it already has a walbro in it. Is there any easy way to tell?

A whine? I can check. Will I be able to hear it in the drivers seat? Its complicated with asking the previous owner haha, I dunno who he is. I mean of course I can tear out the seat and what not and pull the unit out, but that would suck lol.

You know who flashed the car...You might want to check there...some places keep a log of which car they flashed with what mods.

As for the sound of the walbro...some describe it as a whine..other describe it as a low tone drone...coming from the rear drivers side area.

Walbros don't always whine. Have someone check it. It isn't that hard to get to.

I hear a whine when I rev, who knows if its from a walbro. I don't need anybody to check it FOR ME haha. I just would rather not tear into it unless I have to. But I might as well, better than banking on a whine I can hear.

Chances are if the bolts on the black tank cover have been turned, you have a walbro, no one takes them out to go back to stock, there cheap as hell.

Thats what I was thinking, pull the cushion and examine the bolts. I have a HUNCH that I have a pump, which would be awesome, save myself 90 bucks.

I was in the same position. Except I didnt find out I had a fuel pump until I went to put a new one in. Now Ive got a spare sitting on the shelf. Id probably just take the rear seat off. Crank the car, and put your ear next to the driver's side panel under the rear seat, and you should hear it. While there, check for turned bolts (as stated above).

At idle, listen for an electric whine - then - with both windows already up, pull up on the window buttons briefly - this puts a strain on the car's electrical system, and will cause the Walbro's whine to change its pitch.

Note: this won't work if you have an aftermarket audio amplifier - will also whine...

Okay, just pop the back seat out already...
