Where should the clutch bite?

Since this is my first manual, I am not sure. I was reading around on the forum and still not sure. Mine does not kick into gear until it reaches almost the top. And it is CLOSE to the top.

Is this right? I would think lower down would be easier.

As long as it isnt "preloaded," it should be fine. I think in as a general rule of thumb, the lower the the catch point is (as long as the clutch disengages), the better. But from what Ive read some clutches "prefer" to be higher. Even when you adjust it, the grab point is going to be at the top of the pedal. The position of the top of the pedal is what you are adjusting.

Someone please correct me if Im wrong here...

Mine catches near the top too... its been frustrating for me because the car I learned on caught quickly from the bottom. Its a big adjustment that I still have not completely made.
