Help, I cant get the tranny out of the car

I have the t-case separated and all of the bolts out of the tranny, but it wont slide out more than an inch. And then it feels like it gets stuck. The clutch fork is towards the passenger side of the car. Did I miss something. I have been trying to wiggle it out for hours now. It isn't contacting anything, it just wont slide all the way out.

any help would be appreciated

This is what it looks like through the lower inspection hole

Do I still need to separate something?

Did you pull the shaft that goes thru the tranny on the drivers side?

sounds like you didn't snap off the throw out bearing from the pressure plate.

I lost the retaining clip while driving the car, which is why Im pulling the tranny. Is the clip what holds the tob to the pressure plate? If so it should already be free? How can I tell if it is?

thanks

you need to pop it off something..my friend and I used a long thin prybar with a 45deg. angle at the end.. you will hear a snap/pop kind of sound when it releases. I had to turn the crank a few times until he found the spot to pop it off.

Your throw out bearing is not released from the wedge collar most likely. You can tell if you look through the bottom inspection hole and when moving the fork it is not moving anything on the clutch.

There is a rubber plug on the bottom of the housing. Peek through with a flashlight and moved the fork back and forth. You should see it loose.

Did you use the how-to at evomoto ??? Great pics.

When I look through the inspection hole it looks like the wedge collar and a few wave washers are loose in there. When I move the fork back and forth it looks like the tob is still attached to the fork. Is that what needs to be separated?

ok, so it sounds as if the wedge collar is broken? and your tob is separated. And to answer your question....no, the fork will stay with the TOB

I can push the fork back and forth, but it will only go to midpoint of the slot. It wants to stay on the passenger side, but I can push it towards the driver side, and it springs back to the passenger side.

Yes, there are springs inside.
If you haven't already - go to the www.evomoto.com website, and find their excellant write-up for installing a clutch in the Evo Tech section.
