went to mitsu dealership for tranfer case
Thats the most garbage thing i've heard, Springs ruining a driveshaft??? U could drive with no springs and it wouldnt do a damn thing... That dealer is just jerking your chain... Installing aftermarket springs does not cause a driveshaft to become noisy,
I did work at a Mitsu dealer up until this week until I was unhappy with my boss and decided to leave... I have never seen an Evo have a transfer case whine because of the driveshaft.... The T/C's generally whine on most Evo's Pre-2006,
A screwed up driveshaft does not whine, it vibrates either with a busted u-joint or a balance issue, Tell that dealer to take their 8 hours of bs labor and the driveshaft and shove it,
Let them show you exactly what their talkin about as far as the driveshaft... Who knows maybe a pinion bearing let go inside the T/C and it would be still be covered under warranty... If they still give you crap tell them, dont ask but Tell them that you demand to speak to the GM of the dealership and that your car is still under warranty and want the T/C replaced and will not take the car back until the issue is resolved.....

there a nice right up in How to's on removing driveshafts and such. Iv done it a bunch of times its REALLY easy all you need is some tools and a slide hammer. Anyhow when does the car wine? does it bind at all when u turn right or left? Im pretty sure u have a tcase wine not a messed up driveshaft.

Ask that stealer ship to give you a print out of what they are saying caused it. If they won't give you one, find and print the Magnusson-Moss federal act and take that to them. They have to give you a written explanation as to why they won't cover it under warranty and why they are voiding your warranty. If that doesn't work then get a lawyer and tell him about the Magnusson-Moss federal act and let him/her deal with the dealership and Mitsu. Any other questions PM me!
Since service advisors are on commision, just go back there and say, "you know I thought about it, and well since I going to be recieving a sizeable inheritance, I wil have the money to do in the next week." "But, before my did shells me out the money, he wants to see and printed estimate first." The advisor will hear you mention $$$$$$, and since they are on commish, they will write ANYTHING you want, if it means they will get paid for it. Mitsu does not have a heart, why should you?
That sucks...I hope you get it taken care of.
I use to be an ASE Master Tech. The only way you could have damaged anything like that is if the diff angle is way off. I have the GF210's and it's a very suttle drop.
U-joints go bad from improper angle and prolonged vibrations.
A very easy way to varify the driveshaft is off balance. Check the yellow pages for a driveshaft shop that can balance the driveshafts for you.
If you do need a drive shaft, I have one extra one from an 2003 with 9K on the odometer. It is perfect and my back up.
But I really dont see the driveshaft going bad unles you hit something knocking off the balance.
SOmetime the weights that are welded on can come off. So just to cover all bases, have it looked at. Take that to Mitsubishi.
ALso take a look at the pinion angle. You can buy a pinion angle meter for a couple of bucks from summit or jegs, etc.
I highly doubt this is far enough off to cause driveline damage..

Just a side not about T-cases.....if you do get it replaced through mitsu...do they use another same style stock one? If so, wont this new one just have to get replaced in a few x thousand miles??

And if the driveshaft was out of balance or u-joints where worn out and this caused the t-case whine, you would have noticed a decent amount of vibration before ever noticing the whine and it wouls still be vibrating as you drive down the road now.
