I'll give you the basic rundown cause I'm bored. But seriously, there's plenty of info like this everywhere, so now it will be one more place.
I'm not gonna tell you what brand of parts to buy, cause there are tons of parts out there, and you get to figure out for yourself what you need. You will find a stock 4G63 will net you 500hp(race fuel) easily with the 35R kit. Too much more than that and an "engine internal expert" would tell you the pistons are gonna be the first to go. So you replace these, and just because you've got the whole motor torn down, you throw some rods in for insurance. But the important thing about building a motor isn't the parts, it's the actual build. A well built motor with cheap forged pistons and rods, with good fasteners, will out live a motor with Mahle pistons and pauter rods put together by an amateur who shirks the details. You need to make sure the entire engine is within spec, and everything is put together properly, otherwise, kaboom goes $2000 and weeks of work. If you're not comfortable doing this there are plenty of shops out there who are.
You asked about valvetrain too. It's not as important. Everything in the motor has to be built around what you want the motor to do. So if you want high rpm power, go with a high duration cam(effective duration, not advertised. A 280 cam is not a 280 cam just cause it says so). If you want low rpm response, stay with stock. And there are several options in between.
So in otherwords, the kit's good and you don't need to build the motor.

i run the AMS GT35R turbo kit everyday, allday.great driveability.
building the internals would be the best to do to yield bigger power, and spool up time.
im running stock block,head,etc...mods in signature and i put down 418awhp on straight 92 octane and 22psi,conservative tune for DD.
i couldnt be happier with my turbo kit and choice of set up.it is a great DD kit and i havent had any issues with my car.drives just like the day i bought it,just a little faster of course.
