LSD or Coil-over's? please help me decide

i would like to make my car handle better, but i am not sure which will be the better route to go.

i have a 03 evo 8 & stcok suspension w/29k miles on the stock clutch & I foresee me changing that in the near future, so i am thinking a new diff would be easier @ this time as well.

i dont drag race, but then again, i want to be able to launch my ride without too much worry & I dont track my car, but i want it to handle better & hopefully ride a bit smoother over the bumps.

i am about to get a mueller stg1 set-up/alignment = f/r bushing, rear swaybar & alignment after the clutch install.

i dont have the funds to get top of the line co's or have someone install this for me too, as i do all my mechanical work.

so cost is considered on this deal.

any advice / insight would be greatly appreciated.

i wasnt sure if i should post this in the drivetrain or handling forum.

thanks

I guess my question would be, if you don't track the car, why would you want a front LSD or coilovers to begin with?

IMO if you're only after improved ride quality, then I'd get some new or low-mileage MR Bilsteins, get an alignment and call it a day.

yeah, i dont track the car, but would really like to have the performance available.

being that i dont track the car now, but i enjoy the power performance i get from the engine with the mods i added.

i have considered used mr springs/shocks, but most peole are asking ~450- & you can fine used co's for that & have the ability to set a desired ride height & have the ability to tweak the valving.

with regards to the lsd, why do so many people make such a big deal about the handling improvements after adding a lsd?

i have posted this in the suspension thread, but there is way more viewership on this forum & the lsd is a drivetrain component.

Thanks for your insight guys

Through my research on the topic, I've come to the conclusion that there are very few setups out there that improve on the stock suspension. Most people that get a CO suspension end up making the car handle worse, which is why I'd go the route of the MR Bilsteins if you're not willing to shell out the $$ to have Robi or Mueller setup your car. However, if you like tweaking your suspension setup yourself, then CO are the way to go. Although without track time, you really can't do a proper suspension setup.

LSD is nice to have if you're tracking the car, since it will help in allowing the car power out of turns. Again, a limited benefit for street use, IMO. Front LSD also helps to reduce front wheelspin when launching the car.

I don't know to be honest with you I street drove my car with an AMS Buddy Club Coil over setup and I thought the ride was nice and the car was on rails... oh yeah it had a rear sway bar and the cusco trunk bar as well.

Any questions shoot me a pm.

i agree with ludikraut i have a quaife in my car and its barely noticable on the street. i would get the coilovers if you have access to a shop for alignment and corner balance.

thanks again guy's.

i see your point for the lsd being good for dragging or where your in a situation where you asking the most from your car while looking for corner-out performance......i will most likely wait on the lsd.

used mr bilsteins are ~450/550 shipped......Are they that much better than the 03 struts/springs?

If you can wait about 6-8 weeks, I will let you know. I am looking to get a set in the very near future. You could always test drive an MR, though.
