question for anyone that has done ix cams...

i've done cams in my old 8 but i'm not sure how to take the mivec/intake gear off the cam on my 9.
it looks like there is a place for a 14mm allen to loosen the center piece. but there are also
4 small allen bolts around the outer rim of the mivec part that holds it to the actual gear itself. which one do i need to loosen?
does the whole thing come off as one piece or does the center part come off first and the the gear separately?

thanks

just found ix manual online. the center is just a cover plug for the bolt behind it.

yes...the center bolt is the one you need to remove...the rest only holds the cam gear together.

i have done the installation at home and i followed the same steps on evomoto.com although they were intended for an VIII...its vertually simmillar.

I took the 4 small bolts off instead of the 14mm hex bolt. I didn't have the a hex key big enough and no way to go get one at the time. All I can say, is do NOT take the clutch assembly apart. Somehow I managed to get mine back together without loosing any of the small wiper pieces inside and got the orientation right. It was dumb luck though.

Yea you take the 14mm allen bolt out and then you can break the cam gear free. Also on the end of the intake cam there is a trigger housing and sensor assembly just like on the end of the exhaust cam that you have to remove. It is easy to do but just adds some time to the job. Also have fun getting the dowel on the intake cam to slide into the cam gear when you go to put everything back together. You can not see the dowel slide in so you have to do it all by feel, you will see what i am talking about when you do the job.
