It would be silly for anyone to draw any conclusion about a green turbo from the way it performed on this car.

Even a gt30 or 35 would put down awful numbers on a car like this.

I guess this just shows that it makes no sense to upgrade to a green before you at least have the basic bolt-on’s.

Exactly. Upgrading to the Green or any other turbo should be one of the last things that gets done. Add the other bolt ons to this turbo and it would be impressive yet again.

Al, thanks for the post! Even though there are haters here (wtf guys, relax!) it's still interesting to see someone with this combo of parts hit the rollers! This truly answers the question that so many people ask 'what if I *just* do this and this and not this...i.e. skip a few steps along the modding path that most of us follow...the results are clearly drawn out here: there's more power to be made with more mods! Even an open intake and deleted cat would make quite a difference here I think! Throw in a SS o2 housing and this thing would be making another 30+whp!

Just for reference, I have an 05 Evo w/ all buschur parts: TBE w/ cat, deluxe FMIC kit & all piping, intake pipe, open element filter, walbro pump, and hks 280's. My car made ~295whp on a Dyno dynamics dyno (with 1.0 correction factor).

Just goes to show that if you take shortcuts you'll be shooting yourself in the foot for power. Al, again thanks for the post, good info.

^^ Correct and you also have to include in the fact that this was tuned on 93. If it were with alky and 100 + there would be quite an increase in power.

In most cases, the peak gains are not going to be crazy however, it's the shape of the curve that changes the most. I only picked 15/26 but saw gains of 30+ throughout the power curve on the same dyno (BR).

My previous best at the track was 11.7@118. After the Green install, I ran an 11.4@122.83. So, with just the Green, I picked up 3 tenths & 4+mph and the car still spools like near stock. You have to feel the difference in this turbo to be sold on it. It just feels so much faster and stronger. For near $900 bucks, this was a great addition!

Just look at some of the guys trapping 126+ with the Green on C-16. It loves race gas too. My runs were on alky so I'd love to get a C-16 tune.

These results aren't surprising at all. But rather just what should be expected. Bolting on 50trim or 35r kit with these limited mods would be even more embarrassing.

^ I agree, people should follow Buschur 1-4 stages before upgrading any type of turbo. I assume he also running a E-bay downpipe? Stock air box is fine but stock intercooler pipping, no 02 housing?

I disagree with you.

I do agree with you. If this guy spent $100 he could see 400WHP.

1. $25 ebay air filter
2. $50 ebay testpipe
3. $25 of 110 octane.

I don't believe you need a FMIC, IC piping, injectors, and all that crap to make good power. Everyone knows you make power by increasing air flow. Help the air get in, help the air get out, and add fuel that will allow you to cram even more air through.

If he installed meth/alchy he could have big power 24/7.

This tune was at 22 psi pump gas 93 octane

A little laggier than with a stock turbo not much in the way of gains up top - it seems to hold the boost and power a bit better on the top end

Surely, more mods are needed to extract the full potential of the Evo Green - but none the less a great looking dyno sheet

hey al, ill be sending u my ECU shortly, i have similar mods (see sig), + adding a green and 780cc injectors. +/- ebay intercooler vs. stock fmic for the time being.

I cannot get over the fact on how bad the torque dies when u run race gas. As soon as it reaches peak torque at an early rpm which is awesome, it begins to fall on its face. Even with 272 cams it doesnt hold. Hp starts to struggle too, just not as bad. seems like pump and less boost is more efficient.

I realize this car was on minimal mods, but I have seen the same thing happen on full bolt cars.

I have come to realize that you sacrifice top end on a green for a low end accel monster vs laggier mid/top end producing turbos like the gt30 etc.
