Um, maybe a few minutes searching? This has been covered many times with all the information readily available. No, the difference in the IX turbo is not 'a bigger hotside."

EVOL2003,

I just did this recently, sort of. I actually upgraded my '03 VIII to an IX turbo, a SS eBay O2 housing (yes, the right one), and a PPI ported exhaust manifold (thanks Wayne) all at one time. Followed up by a fresh tune.

All you really need is the turbo outlet - Mitsu # 1515A057 "Fitting, Air Output" $37.91. However, being **** I ordered the entire IX turbo swap kit from EvoM member "Spins4".

Now for the bad news, all three of the added mods netted me 15hp and no torque. I will admitted I was bummed. Was it worth it? No. However, I have more mods planned so this was a sort of stepping stone that I can live with.

I'm probably limited to a great extent by the lousy ACN91, which I understand to be worse than the 91 elsewhere in the country. If you are on 93 or 94, I'm sure the IX turbo would give better results. Certainly meth or alky would also make a difference.

YMMV...

I did this upgrade and posted an entire thread reviewing it specifically so that people like you would have the information and not need to post new threads asking the same questions over and over. If you had searched, you would have seen that thread and many other threads. Make sense?
