Problems with Exedy Twin HD

I've searched around and couldn't really find anything that helped. I did the install and have done a bunch of troubleshooting on my own. Here's what's going on.

I am coming off the non HD Exedy twin/Stock tranny that I never had a problem with shifting.

The current clutch has about 10,000 miles on it now, mated to a rebuilt Shep tranny running penzoil synchromesh. No matter where I adjust the threaded rod on this I still get some engagement and the wheels try to move, almost like the disks are grabbing/dragging. WOT shifting appears to be fine. Around town driving is very notchy, no grinding though, and feels like it hangs in the neutral gate some before going into gear, again kinda like the discs could be dragging and causing the synchros to work harder in engaging the next gear.

When I first installed this I got the typical hum/buzz/chatter that these all have, however in the last few weeks its gone to a grumbly (rumble strip like) chatter, certainly sounds and feels different. No change in shift quality however.

I've changed the fluids 4 times, bled the clutch, swapped slaves, removed restrictor and added a slave extension, no change. I am ready to pull the tranny and toss a stock clutch back in the car since I don't really race it much anymore.

Looking for feedback, suggestions, guidance on this one.

Thanks

I would have suggested to swap out cylinders or to put in an extended rod but you have already done all of those things. To be honest it seems like you have tried just about everything that there is to do, it looks like you will need to pull it out and get a look at it.

Anyone have a spare working master around they wouldn't mind lending out? It's a little too steep a price for me to shell out right now on something that isn't guaranteed to be broke. I'd pay shipping back and forth obviously.

I doubt if it is they hydraulics since the sound/chatter/feel is also different. An extended rod is a waste and will do nothing. Have you ever got the clutch real hot recently? If so I would worry that the floater is warped and is now hanging up on the posts or the discs have transferred some material preventing complete disengagement.

I have to the sort of problem. I think is is the TOB not aligning up in the wedge collar making the engagement off. I am hurt now but was gonna pop the TOB and try and see if any of the prongs were bent in the wedge collar. Let us know if you have any changes Good luck.

Never got it hot that I know of, unless extending the rod out to its max put un-neccessary preload on the clutch causing it to run slightly disengaged. I think you nailed it on the head though, feels just like the disc is hung on the posts however its been like this since day one. Perhaps I have a bad unit?

Contact Exedy and see what they have to say. I have only heard good things about their customer service (except from those probably expecting too much).
