What turbo for most low-end torque possible???

All I wanna do is get pushed back in my seat hard when that turbo spools...

I'm looking for the BEST turbo to make some serious low-end torque at like 3600-4000 rpms. Really don't care much for top-end power (not into drag racing; rather other types of racing from like 40-100mph ...)

I'm currently running a bolt-on, cammed IX (stock turbo), and the torque is good, but not great. I realize that meth injection is the first step to big torque, and have plans to go this route. Obviously a stroker would be great too, but kind of $$$ for me right now (want that SBR 2.5L so bad )

So, here is what I'm thinking:

1) Evo IX turbo with Ti turbine and BB conversion - the guys over in the UK - who are more into rally type than drag racing - quote about a 500rpm increase in spool, which I'll assume should help out low-end torque some.

-or-

2) Green turbo with BB conversion for better spool, little more midrange/top-end over the IX, maybe a little less torque?

3) Any other mods or changes to existing mods to reach my goal? i.e. advance exhaust cam, etc...?

Any help is really appreciated here... I need my 2.0L to start acting like a V8...

IX-TME or 20g-LT on meth with the boost cranked to the max, lean spool AFR, and aggressive timing.

Ford 302 + Vortech = easy torque

Really though, maybe a 6.5 TME would spool a lil quicker than your nine. Meth definitely is a huge boost for tq. When I added meth I gained almost 80tq. I did also add an AMS FMIC but that was it

42R and about a 150 shot should work.

I thought that the IX TME turbos had massive quality control issues? Like they simply would fall apart, the wheels that is.

Fun on a V8 car, . I leave most of them in the dust on my 16V 2.0, . Now that is fun, .

Are you talking about the magnesium JDM IX? That's not what I mean by IX-TME. I mean a USDM IX converted with TME internals.

That was certainly true for the first batch of mag turbos, but the second revised batch seems to have corrected this.

If you're looking for the quickest spool and big torque hit, you should look at a number of things.

Big torque hit is one. Race gas or meth is a way to do this.

Quick spool could be a BB conversion on a Green with cam timing changes and maybe a smaller downpipe (like a 2.75").

Those are two easier ways, but not necessarily the cheapest. Also, a testpipe should help spool. Maybe a smaller core intercooler along with an AMS LICP.

A smaller DP will not improve spool. Backpressure only hurts spool. The best spool will come with no exhaust...

Well, it might help torque.

100 shot of nitrous will pin you back in the seat. Torque on demand.

Doubt it. What would be the point of going bigger than stock if smaller helps torque?

Guys, thanks for the replies...

Yeah, it looks like meth will be necessary to get where I want with the car.

It's funny how on this board, everyone is like "meth, meth!!!111!!!1", while on the UK boards, everyone is all about getting their turbos BB converted, with Ti internals, 4" ported shroud to reduce surge, etc...

Anyone here think that I need any more mods? i.e. ported TB and intake manifold. And, no, AMS VSR not an option...
