BOV's Stock/Aftermarket/Synchronic

Anyone ever seen or been in a car with a synchronic bov? i'm curious to know if you really do get better throttle response over stock or lets say hks or tial. i personally like the sound of an atmoshperic bov flame or not. i was thinking of throwing on a tial but the synchronic seems pretty bad ***. anyone know first hand?

Your stocker is fine. If you want to have a loud VTA BOV that makes you run rich in between shifts and can possibly make your car stutter and stall, then the Tial is the way to go.

the blow off port on the synapse BOV is very small (not for high hp apps), and if you have the smallest of vacuum leaks the BOV will not function. it's also made in China

i have the Tial on my 05 MR there is no problem with it at all and as u turn ur car up the stocker with start to leak unless u have the metal one that comes on the JDM MR or the IX i think also have it. The only catch with the Tial is u have to get atleast the 9psi spring or the 12 psi spring bc the 7psi that it come with will leak at idle and cause the sputtering and dying others talk about. I love the Tial have it on my 375whp evo and the same one is on my 743whp GT45R powered Syclone they are the best

We just have a different opinion on design philosophy. The discharge hole on the Synchronic BOV is not massive, and not meant to be. Its goal is to stop the pressure rise in the intercooler piping when the throttle is shut, instead of blowholing every CFM of boost that your turbo just busted tail to build. Its design intent is not, on the contrary, to simply stay shut at idle with different springs to match your idle vacuum. Synchronic BOV is designed to do 3 things: Eliminate compressor surge, not leak boost, and be able to recirculate.

And here's 1,000 reasons why 1 BOV is enough: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6O3BqwMzYK4

For more on design intent, read here: http://synapseengineering.com/smf/index.php?topic=30.0

The Tial bovs come with a -11psi spring.. the -7psi (black) spring is actually the correct one to use... It reads 10-13 in/hg of vacuum at idle and is perfect for the EVO.. I went from the stiff (stock) -11psi spring (uncolored) and went to the soft -7psi and drive ability is MUCH better.. I am running a blow through system too so I don't have to worry about the stock MAF.
