Velocity stack (maf and adapters)

1. For those that have taken apart/out their intake box, have you guys noticed if the stock maf inlet smooths in like a velocity stack? I was searching around and came across some pics of the stock maf, and it looked like the inlet wall smoothed in and tapered like a velocity stack would.

2. For those that have the oval cone style K&N filter and adapter kit available, is the adaptor designed with a smooth transition like a velocity stack?

There is a cheaper alternative without any weird adapters, bolts straight onto the MAF and works great.

Look in this thread for more info, scroll past the Apexi filter stuff:

Thanks, but I'm playing with different ideas in my head right now. I know about drop-in filters, buschur or ebay filter and intakes etc...

I'm trying to figure out different approaches to maybe modifying the stock maf housing, or other things. But for now I need to know about the maf inlet if its a velocity stack and if the k&n oval filter adapter has a V.S. style inlet.

I saw some one was selling a little while back a velocity stack style adapter. I need to know if the K&N is similar to that as well.
