Evo Ix Mr Cams ? Every Opinion Counts.

Ok i have a 2006 Evo IX MR and im going to change the stock cams. I heard the GSC S1 cams are great for mid end power without changing the valvetrain. And i do not want to change any valvetrain components. But im more looking for top end power from 5000-7000 rpms increase. What cams do you recommend for wicked power increases in 5000-7000rpms ??? i'm using it for drag racing only. and do you think i need to change the cam gears, is it nessessary ? or change the timing belt at 9000 miles when i have it tore apart ? im just trying to see if i can find cams that have more increase from 5-7k over the GSC s1's !!!! dont be a jerk, positive comments only please !

From what i've heard from members, the GSC cams are good and yes you should change out your cam gears, fidanza is good for aftermarket cams.
I also saw a thread from a local and heard imput from a local tuner (TTP-Engineering) that teh Cosworth cams work as well also...

but it all depends on what size you're going. 272's? 280s?

I installed GSC S1 cams this last weekend. Very easy to do. I used the stock cam gears. If you use aftermarket gears you will only need one as you will have to use the mivec gear. I hope to dyno this weekend. KevinD tuned it after install and there is very good pull on the car now.

Im going to be changing my cams to the GSC SC1 aswell and the guy from AMS told me that changing out cam gears is pointless in a way unless you got a build motor or a larger turbo were the timing comes into play but on stock turbo not needed unless you wanna spend the money.

If I were doing it, I would want HKS cams, but these IXs make great power on the stock hollow bumpsticks, so I'm keeping them. I changed cams on my VIII and do not miss aftermarket cams at all.
