Q:"how often do u guys fill up the tube thing with water for the intercooler?"

A: You do not fill the sprayer system from the front "tube". If you put any liquid there it will just run out on the ground. Try it! The sprayer nozzles are supplied fluid from the windshield washer system and is filled from the trunk. The "tube" in the front is just and overflow. You can read this in the manual also.
This also answers a question in another forum asking if windshield washer fluid will harm the intercooler.
Hope this helps!

No, the windshield (and rear window) reservoir is in the trunk, and the intercooler reservoir is in the engine bay. But you are right that if you overfill the latter, the excess liquid will drain through the tube.

Umm? Did you read my post? I said the windshield washer system was filled from the trunk. And yes the intercooler sprayer does use the windshield washer fluid system. You do not fill the intercooler sprayer system from the front of the car, that is just an overflow. To prove my point just mark the level of fluid in the trunk reservoir then press the manual spray botton for no more than 60 seconds at a time then go back and look at the level of liquid. Just read your owners manual if you still need another source for how the system works.
I know I'm correct about this because in my infinite stupidity I took my car back to the dealer when I put water in the front overflow and it all just ran out on my garage floor. They did as I said to do to prove it to me.

I did read your post, and I continue to politely disagree with you. Not sure what manual you have, but mine clearly indicates (see page 7-14), that the washer fluid reservoir for th intercooler spray is in the engine compartment, the windshield and rear window washer fluid reservoir is in the trunk, you fill the two separately, and they are not connected in any way. Want more proof? Go try that trick of yours again (i.e., mark the level in the trunk and spray the intercooler): you will find that although the intercooler spray reservoir in the engine bay goes down, the reservoir in the trunk does not. Want more proof? Go look closely at the intercooler spray reservoir in the engine bay. Notice that it has two--and only two--tubes that connects to it. One is the overfill tube that is only a few inches long, and the other connects directly to the intercooler. That's it. No connection to the trunk reservoir. Don't know what your dealer was smoking! Maybe your dealer is a Dealer?

But as I said before, it's an honest mistake because you are right that if you fill the intercooler spray there will be some run-off if you fill it to the very top. But trust me, that is where you fill it.

You may be right because in the same manual that I'm reading right now it backs up what I say, and at the same time further back it also states that you are right. . It also states that you can adjust the rear wing which we all know is false. So The only way to know is to look under the hood. I hope you are right, I'd love to go back and bust their ***** about being wrong.

The dealer also sells Mercedes-Benz and Toyota. I bought my 2000 SLK230(Which I traded for my EVO) from them so they treat me pretty well.

Do you guys put it on auto everytme you start the car, because you have to every time you start up,there should be a green Ico that lights ups. Also it is temp.sensitive so t won't spray everytime, only when the intake manifold temp.gets to high, and you have to drive hard to do that!

Once I installed my turbo timer, the green icon for auto stopped lighting up. I can hear it fire on manual but never heard it on auto. Wonder if I should bring it to the dealer?

I've been keeping an eye on my resovoir tank lately. We've had some hot days here in the NE recently and I've been driving around in AUTO mode.

I checked my fluid level this morning and it has gone down a bit.
Which makes me believe it is working.

But...it seems like this thing will only kick off in extreme conditions. (IE 90+ degrees and high humidity)

Or I'm sure if I drove at WOT for a while...it would turn on as well.

It sure would be really nice if we could just figure out what the hell causes the thing to spray in "auto" mode. Certain conditions eh? Yeah right. In my world, I'd like to see it spray in pulses when you are at WOT. Also, perhaps, when its monitors the temp across the intercooler and sees a heat issue. I've also never heard mine spray in "auto" mode..I guess I'll go out and play around with it today since I need to adjust my headlamps..but seriously..why couldnt they just tell us HOW the damn thing works in the manual. I use it a lot when I drag race..but I dont want to water the track and cause someone to die or something..so I use it with caution.

The issue of which reservoir it feeds from is also interesting. I almost drain my front one to the bottom after a few passes at the track..I guess I'll need to recruit a volunteer and see if it actually has a line from the tank in the back as well. Since the manual says to be careful about operating it dry I always haul a bottle of fluid around in my car. Talk about a pain in the ***!

It kicks in when the intake manifold temp.gets to high-like going on and onramp on the highway if you accelerate hard I notice it kicks in or above 85mph. but regular cruising it does not.So there must be a sensor on or arround the intercooler too.
