25psi feels like 10

Alright So I am a bit at a loss here other than I need a tune. AMS tbe,Hallman MBC, KN intake,HBI front mount (motor mods). I have been noticing that the car feels really sluggish lately. Its peaking at 25 yet it feels like nothing, to assure myself something was wrong, I did a quick race down an old highway next to my buddy in a bone stock STi and he stayed right next to me . I figured the plugs might need change since I just turned 10k. So last night I put the BPR7ES gapped at .026 in the car and now it seems like there is no change and maybe its worse since I noticed that now it sputters and gargles like a damn SRT on deceleration. Do I just need a tune? Is there something else I should check out, boost leak maybe? Gah. Thanks in advance guys

Please get a tune and quit running 25psi on a non-tuned pump gas Evo. Your car is sputtering because the BPR7ES are only for the VIII's, not the IX's. You need to run iridium plugs, they dont make copper ones for the IX yet.

Youre car is slow because youre running 25psi which is too much boost and youre knocking most likely a lot. Youre car is untuned, which means it IS slow. I bet a stock IX with a tune would kill you in a race, thats how important the tune is.

I drove my friends "full bolt-on" IX no tune. It sputtered, felt sluggish, and awful. He got a tune and probably gained 50whp and 10x better driveability.

you might know this already, but every time you change air or fuel or wanting to crank up the psi and such you need a tune. Do that and your motor will last longer.

Exactly I once used a defective turbo excess boost controller which let my car boost to 24 psi and it felt slower than 18psi. The computer was all over that sh*^.

Turn it down to 20 until you can get a tune.

XK120, what copper plugs are people using for the IX?

I have never heard of a copper plug for a IX.....

But to the op you need to use your head, running 25psi on pump gas is not the smartest thing in the world to do, your car probably feels slow because it is knocking like a B**** and pulling timing, get a tune on less boost and be happy with it.

Along with checking for leaks and turning the boost down you should also consider the ambient temp playing a factor in you running 25psi. I see you are in Vegas which has been very hot lately. Running that 25 pounds of hot air through a hot turbo just puts unnecessary stress on everything else. I'm honestly surprised you haven't broken something very expensive yet running 25psi on stock tune with mods and pump gas in vegas heat.
