Garret 60-1 Turbo

Hey guys if you havent read my other thread my rnr turbo which i thought was a precision turbo turned out to be an ebay turbo and has shot ****s on me. Im looking at upgrading but dont want a 35r. Im looking at the 60-1 from garret. I talked to them today and they say it will out perform the 30r but the 30 will be a bit more efficiant due to being ball bearing. If any of you have this turbo please chime in and let me know what you think of it. I previously had a 50 trim on the car so it will deffinatly be an upgrade and the car will deffinatly run better but just the pros and cons of this.

I had a 60-1 full frame T4 with the Stage V wheel (pre F1 style Turbonetics) from AGP. On a WRX it made 25psi by 4300 on a 2.0L JDM motor (with AVCS, akin to MIVEC) with an Autronic. Its a 60 lb per minute wheel which puts it somewhere between a 30 and 35 for total power, but the spool is a little laggy for some people.

The 60-1 is awesome old school turbo. It's works really good at lower pressures and is good for almost 600whp. I ran low 11's in my Talon all day long with one back in 2001, it wasn't too laggy and overall a fun street turbo. My buddy just made 560 something with his stroked KZ1000 funny bike.

However, I would take a 35r over the 60-1.

Exactly what I would say, Have you looked into the different versions of the GT30, they make about 3 different HP levels from like 52lbs upto 60lbs. Even the 52lbs would being going forward, just somthing to think about.

why dont you want a 35R? too big? get a 3082r with a .82 housing then, I'm about to try that out myself.

i agree 100% with shearer. the 60-1 is one of the og's and the dsm crowd has done huge things with it but these days that are tons of alternative that will perform better on a 4G63. If you got a deal or something then it's all good but if not then i would really say you invest in a different turbo.

im probably going to ordre tomorrow what would you guys recommend? just becuase its an older turbo its still proved its strengths right? I mean im open to any options just looking for the best way to go. And the 60-1 is not to far off from the power range of a 35r 40whp difference from what precision said. On their 60-1 version. which uses garrett internals so it woujld be basially the same thing. and the 60-1 ive been told would be a better pump gas turbo

I say it depends on how much they sell for..If the price is cheaper,by allmeans go for it..But,if they are running about the same as a 35r..The choice is simple..Good luck..Justin

what do you mean laggy? I dont have many more supporting mods i can do. Besides meth/alky. Which might come in the future. I had this turbo on my rsx and i dont remember it being real laggy. i mean there was some but wasnt alot..

i got this turbo on my integra and its great. it makes tons of power and i get full spool at 3800 rpm. i have the t3 60-1 with the .82 ar turbine housing and stage 5 wheel. all this on a build 2.0 lsvtec.

spools great and makes great power at a very low cost

but get a 35r if you can afford it
