Smile Looking for 300+hp on a budget with my 05

I'm sure this question has been answered before, but I want to see the general opinion of EvoMer's.

First here is what I have on the car: 3" Megan Turboback with test pipe, HKS SSQV with upper intercooler pipe (I'm sure that really does nothing for me).

Here's what I am looking at doing: HKS 264 cams, ECU reflash/tune, possibly a different fmic...

Here's what I want to end up with: 300+WHP with as little money outlay as possible. I plan to leave the stock turbo on the car and don't really see a point in changing it out. I've thought about a bigger fuel pump, but the car runs super rich as is...

Would I be able to put down 300 WHP with just cams and a flash, considering the exhaust that I have, or would I need more? What is the best bang for the buck after cams and the flash? FMIC like Nisei? Also, do I need to get ARP headstuds? Lastly, would cam gears help much?

I truly appreciate the help guys.

I know specifically of an '03 with 305 whp on a Buschur turboback, AEM intake, boost controller and tune.

I'm making right at 300 whp (IX) with tubular exhaust mani, O2, DP and tune.

Get a high flowing air filter, BC and a tune and you'll be at 300.

Turboback, wideband, and boost controller should net you 300+ if you can tune.

So it looks like o2 housing is one... I don't want to go 272 cams though because from the research I've done on EvoM it sounds like they're unneccessary for me. I hadn't thought about porting the exhaust and intake manifolds (although I did on my DSM years ago). What do you guys think about doing that and what are realistic gains from doing it? Also, how about pricing for labor to get this done?

Thanks!

Definitely get an 02 housing (Ebay style). Definitely get the cams. Definitely get the tune. I would also reccomend a 10.5 turbine housing (which you can get for $200-250) along with a ported/coated exhaust manifold (from PPI, which is cheap too). All that, along with a tune, and if you have money for FMIC great... the car will be around 350whp+!

Get rid of the ssqv they're junk. Why, they leak at an idle, what do you think happens at 23psi. Do a tbe, intake, turn the boost to 23psi, and a flash and cams if you want. I recomend 272's, that way if you decide to do more it dosent limit you. You'll make somewhere in the neighborhood of 330whp probally more depending on the tune. Dont worry about the intercooler there good for 400whp.

I already have a 10.5 hotside, as my car is an 05. o2 housing like Megan? Or really just anything on eBay? I upgraded a manifold on my DSM with an Evo3 ported one back in the day and I remember it increasing lag time. One of my goals is to keep lag down as much as possible. Would changing the manifold or porting it increase spool time?

Porting the stock intake manifold will increase spoolup slightly. Shouldn't be too bad, though. If you port it, then you'll probably also want to step up to a ported throttle body (65mm). For what you want, though, I agree with what has been posted. Cams, O2 housing, tune (may need MBC depending on whose tune). I hit 300whp on an '03 with similar mods (9.8 hotside).

Oh I thought I read you had a 2004, my bad! The Megan 02 housing is the Ebay style 02 housing. If you can get a Megan for a good price go for it. I had an EVO3 manifold on my DSM too and it did not increase lag at all, maybe thats just you. A ported stock exhaust manifold will most likely decrease lag as well as make more power up top.
