Substitute C16 on car tuned for 93 + Meth
Substitute C16 on car tuned for 93 + Meth
I did a search on this, but the I didn't see this scenario actually brought up...
My car just had a Green installed & will be tuned for 93 + Meth (just 93 now). The issue lies in that the car is used extensively for Solo competition & Meth is illegal.
Can I use C16 or a mixture of pump/C16 to equal 93 + Meth, safely? The Meth will be disabled when I compete.
It ran a 50/50 Meth/water mixture before the new turbo (this was set up by prior owner) & my understanding is that 93 & Meth is approx 104 octane.
My line of thought is yes, but my tuner is not convinced we're comparing apples to apples w/ the substitution.
Anyone w/ experience in this scenario? I know it's a longshot...
TIA

There are two parts to this question, and your tuner should have the answer for both parts. I don't believe you can use a mixture to equal 93oct + meth. What meth or alky does is raise the effective octane while cooling air charge temps. Basically when you add meth or alky it richens up the mixture.
What you need is a basic 93 or 93+ meth tune for the street, and a higher octane 103unleaded or c16 tune. This will allow you to run more boost on the higher octane tune to get you at the same power level you are at with your street + meth tune. Meth is similar to using race gas and basically allows you to stretch out your injector duty cycle.

NO..
bad idea..
ecu / injectors x ammount of fuel + meth injection = ammount of fuel actully being consumed..
racegas = ecu / injectors only. Thus lean afrs because the missing fuel.
