So my car's making a noise. Basically whats happening is when I'm in a gear and I let off the gas I get this grinding sound. I'm noticing the noise more when I'm in a higher gear. There is no change in the feel of my clutch so I don't think it's that.

I had my car up on blocks today and it seems like the noise is coming directly from the bell housing, does'nt seem to be T-case. The noise gets much louder when the car has a load on it, but it does quietly make the noise when its out of gear as well. To me it seems like I may've chipped a tooth on one of the gears, but I'm no tranny expert.

I need some help, opinions, thoughts, suggestions, and advice. Any comments would be helpful

More importantly I need a reputable transmission shop on Long Island (NY) that will work on my car. If need be I will get the car towed out to Jersey if there is a good shop out there.

Who who you guys trust with working on your Evo? If you already had tranny work done on your car, who should I seek out or stay away from?

sounds like your clutch, my car makes a similar noise but i have an act clutch

 

I dont think its clutch. Wouldn't I feel a change in the pedal if it was clutch? And if its clutch would the noise differ depending on the load?

 

Anyone know a shop around here?
