Post HKS exhaust install - STRANGE NOISE

Ok I had an HKS TBE and JIC 3" downpipe installed on my EVO IX. If anyone has had this set up on their car please chime in cuz I'm going crazy!

The resonator pipe was dangerously close to the drive shaft knuckle and actually started rubbing. I had it adjusted and now there is about a fingers width gap between the pipe and shaft.

My unresolved issue: When it rains there is a vibration that occurs under the car... It initially sounded like something was dragging under the car. I've looked many times but have found nothing dragging and everything is bolted up nicely. I've turned off the car while driving to eliminate the possibility of it being a motor driven noise. But it still happens.

I am wondering if ANYONE has had a similar noise... it gets so loud at times that the whole car vibrates... it seems to be coming from the front and is not related to the drive shaft rubbing on the resonator pipe. I cant see anything else that is rubbing and have ZERO idea why it only happens during rainy conditions.

When I come to a rolling stop and then start driving again, the noise goes away and starts again .... during dry conditions there is no vibration.

Anyone... Anyone... Bueller??

It was cuz I bottomed out and bent the front tie bar. It's been bent back and is also about a fingers width from the downpipe. But the noise was occurring before I bottomed out. It basically started right after I had the exhaust installed.

Are you on the stock rubber hangers? If so, thats probably your problem. When I first installed my TBE, I had issues with the DP hitting the tiebars when going over bumps and when it rains. All those issues have been solved ever since I installed Kartboy exhaust hangers. After the install, the exhaust hangs higher (further off the ground), and a lot less movement. I suggest you invest in a set.

I'll definitely look into those. After doing a search I found a few other threads relating this exact problem...I PM'd the two guys that had the threads. They seemed to discover that the noise is from the drive shaft moving around under increased torque to the rear wheels during the rain....??? But what is the solution?

One guy put it up on a lift and tried to simulate the noise and noticed that the shaft moves around aggressively by the rear diff. Ugh! It's annoying as HELL!
