What head bolts to run?

Buliding a o-ringed 2.0L motor w/ a 35R planning to push about 30-35psi.

Wondering what the general consensus is in regards to brand to run.

This should put down over 500awhp on a Mustang Dyno similar to Buschur's.

Good friend of mine was mentioning Magnus sells some pretty stout stuff that costs around $350 for a set but can be re-used.

He also mention ARP L19 (i think) that are better than the standard ARP stuff but a little cheaper than the Magnus stuff?

Can you point me in the right direction.....the shortblock comes back from the machine shop any day now

You cant go wrong with ARP Head Studs. The undercut ones supposedly have a higher tensile strength. I havent seen any documentation backing it up though.

You'll never exceed the capabilities of the ARP's.

The AMS ones are overpriced, like JAM stated, the ARPs are more than enough, they've been proven to work countless times.

The AMS studs are a really good price for L-19 hardware. But if you aren't planning on making 800+ whp they are overkill. The standard ARP's are fine for a 500whp car.

Undercut studs don't have more tensile strength. They spread the stress more evenly along the length of the stud.

ARP (standards) run 120ish
ARP (L19s) run 250 ish

for the extra money, i would get the L19s, especially if i was going to build a strong motor.

Ahhh, ok. Thanks for the info. I have seen the domestic engine guys put a ball bearing in before putting the headstud in. Have you guys ever heard of or seen that?

207-4203, we have them in stock for $109.

And we do reuse them as long as they haven't been over-torqued or damaged. We've used the standard grade ARP studs in EVO's making 650+WHP without o-rings and domestics over 1000HP with no problems.
