The $895 get's you everything listed that they do for that price. If you need certain gears do to chipped teeth or cracked gears then that is EXTRA.If you need bearings replaced other than the ones listed that they replace, that is extra. They will disassemble your trans and evaluate if anything other than what they do for $895 needs to be addressed then call you with recommendation and extra charges. To answer your question easily,YES,then can fix anything wrong with your transmission but it may be more than the $895 if they need to address other concerns with trans.

Shep fpr sure, when building my talon I went with John. He really helped me decide what was best for me. Too bad what was really good for me was a $6000 dox box, but as he put it spend it now or keep rebilding a stage 3. The customer service is fantastic. My dox box was built in less than a week.

What is this dog box people refer to? Is it some sort of cage for your pet that doesnt ruin the interior of the car?

I would do a TRE trans, I have had several from him and they are great. Plus I have been at his shop and watched him work on the trans, it is amazing the detail work on the gears and how the trans is assembled.

Assuming you really want to know a dogbox is a gearset that, simply described, has slots cut around the side of the gears, and a "pin" in the corresponding side of the matching gear. When you shift, which you have to do under deliberately strong shifter pressure, the "pin" pushes against the side of the other gear and hits one of the slots within a 1/3 rotation, immediately bringing it up to the same RPMs. Some people say that they pick up 1/2 second in the quarter mile using a dogbox. Rally cars use them as well.

No clutch needed except to start, just a slight reduction in the power. They must be shifted very positively, or the pins/slots suffer damage. You change the transmission fluid every 1000 to 1500 miles (or less, depending on how hard the use is). Most of the dogbox gearsets are straight cut, and are kinda loud.

I have had 5 or more TRE transmissions, including two Stage III Evos, and several Stage III DSM transmissions. I've never had a failure, and they shift fantastic. I've spoken with Jon, the owner of TRE, on a number of occasions, and he'll spend 30-60 minutes at a time explaining what he would recommend and why.

He now has EVo transmissions in stock for exchange as well, so that can be a pretty quick turnaround if you need one in a hurry.

I've also had a Shep DSM transmission, and it works well too.

+1 for TRE, sorry guys - we have not experienced what you have this week. We called Shep and TRE and emailed both. Shep was too busy to talk on the phone and didnt respond to emails. Jon at TRE on the other hand spoke with me at length and answered all of my questions and answered my email promptly as well. I think the service level that you recieve just depends on how busy they are at the time and all of these un-substantiated "<fill in the blank> is best with no reasoning should not be a determining factor IMO".

Jon @ TRE always answers the phone until you make a payment.

I literally had to threaten them with posting our experience before he would even contact us back via email, let alone the phones...

Shep is real. He will treat you the same before and after you make your payment. Being busy is not a bad thing. I know Shep just had to put about $4000-6000 into a phone system there to help deal with the volume of calls.
