I ran a cometic, 35 psi on a 35R and had no problems. My head and block were not o-ringed.

If ifarted2 is using the stock one, anyone can. I think for 40psi+ O-ringing the head is a very good idea. ARPs are a must.

You DO know that running a Cometic gasket requires a certain RA on the block and head right? If you just stuck it on and your machinist didnt have any idea about this the gasket probably failed because he ran normal table speed while decking the surface. High table speeds result in rough finishes and Cometics will not seal. I suggest hand lapping when using Cometic gaskets. Havent had one fail yet.

The the original poster. If you're not trying to set the world on fire, stock will be fine.
