For $70 it is tempting just for shts and giggles to see if it actually works. When you think about a wastegate is a a very simple design. I am sure that they just took a tial apart and replicated it. I have my flame suit on so bring it on. Just really wanted to hear from anyone who has tried it?

My buddy bought an egay turbo kit before I was his buddy... needless to say the WG was missing the valve seat... didn't work. Turbo was junk... so was all of it.

The problem with a crap wg is simple. It stops opening, your not paying attention and boost will just soar. What damage is done will depend on how quickly you back off, and how safe your tune is. It could, cost you an engine.

Not a part you want to skimp on. Cheap WG's leak which causes slower spoolup, stick, and generally suck. These parts are exposed to the most fierce conditions on the engine outside of the cylinders themselves. Inferior alloys, parts, and workmanship = cheaper part. Tial's stuff isn't just expensive from their name, its the fact they work as designed for a long... long time.

Not a fireball, just some reasons why its not a great idea.

I know in the Honda world, people normally have issues with their turbos and manifold but some get lucky with the wastegates and bov's. I think its hit or mess with that company. 50% or greater chance of getting junk.

You are absolutly right and this was a stupid post and an even stupider idea. Control of boost is not where I want to experiment with knock off's. I was smoking crack while shooting up when this idea came to me . Please forgive me.

We've all been tempted to try some cheaper stuff in the name of saving money for other things. Some may admit it, others may not.

But some things are just too much a liability to be worth any amount of money saved.

Ive never 'tested' one out before but a few weeks ago I did throw one in the garbage that I pulled off a customers car. The top hat had cracked completely in half and the spring had fallen out. We put a genuine Tial on the car and now he wont have any worries.

The saying goes - if youre going to buy cheap youre going to buy twice.
